Some of these owners can end up feeling immense guilt and self-loathing, with some going as far as calling themselves “Plant Murderers”. But death extends beyond plants. There have been many cases of people spending large amounts of money to keep pets alive only to have death catch them soon after regardless.
Death is a natural part of life, whether it be; a person, a pet or a plant. I wanted to show people that death is an unavoidable truth, but that doesn’t mean it’s the end. Making people comfortable with the idea of death and the natural cycle of the world is challenging as people are always aware of such things but avoid accepting them.

Morticulture is a house plant subscription service. Every month your will receive a new plant. Your previous plant should be dead by the time the new one arrives and if it isn’t then you’re expected to kill the old plant before doing anything with the new one.
On the site there is a community space where everyone can come together during their reaping period and share their experiences. This community aspect plays into group horticulture as studies have shown it is good for grief therapy.
